Shop Manager (part time)

The Grindleford Community Shop was set up in June 2014 by a group of enthusiasts when the last local convenience store closed down and is located within the former vestry of St Helen’s Church in the Hope Valley village of Grindleford.  Grindleford is a delightful village with a thriving community, very keen to support the shop, which remains the only grocery shop in the village and is staffed by a keen group of volunteers, supervised by the shop managers.  We provide a complete range of groceries, including artisan bread delivered daily.  When possible, we serve tea, coffee and cake in the churchyard and will be expanding our indoor seating capacity as soon as we can.

We have a vacancy for a part-time shop manager.  The role is a job share with two people working a flexible 18 hours per week.  The salary is paid at the current national living wage – from April 2021 this will be £8.91 per hour.

The role involves responsibility for the day to day running of the shop, including stock ordering and control, ensuring compliance with health, safety and hygiene requirements, organising volunteers, dealing with customers and reporting to the management committee, among others. The job includes lots of communication, community events, working with our partners and responsibility for maintaining the shop and surrounds. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is keen to serve the local community in this capacity.
